What started out as a fun pastime at his father’s church in Flint , Michigan , soon turned into a growing career and a definite musical mission! Robert, also known as “Bubby”, began playing bass at the age of 14, and soon became known around his home town as a musical prodigy. It was at the NAMM Show in 2003 that he sparked the attention of gospel bass legend Andrew Gouche’, who introduced him to Michael Tobias. Although Robert had yet to build his performance/recording resume, after hearing him play and witnessing the crowd of hundreds that gathered at his display booth in awe of Robert’s talents, Mike Tobias offered him an artist endorsement, saying that he would be elated to be the one to craft Robert’s custom basses.
