ARTIST BIO

Born in 1988, Gabriel Vicéns has quickly become a respected figure in the Puerto Rican jazz scene.   Having attended the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico, where he majored in Jazz Performance for Jazz Guitar, he had the opportunity to play, learn, and develop friendships with Miguel Zenón, Eddie Gómez, Kenny Werner, David Sanchez, John Faddis, Bill Boris, Charlie Sepúlveda, Luis “Perico” Ortiz, Danilo Pérez, Luis Marín, Fernando Mattina, and Paoli Mejías.

In 2010 he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Conservatory as the first jazz guitarist and has just completed his first full length, critically acclaimed album, “Point In Time”, featuring jazz legend Eddie Gómez and tenor saxophonist David Sánchez. Currently, he is also giving guitar lessons at a collegiate level at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Vicéns has garnered much attention performing live and at some of the most important jazz festivals in the country such as  the Heineken Jazz Fest, Heineken “Ventana al Jazz”, the “Festival de Jazz del Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico”, the “Festival de Jazz Inter-Metro”, Long Weekend’s Jazz Fest, and “La Estrella del Norte” . He has often played and recorded albums with the likes of Sammy Morales, Jonathan Suazo, Victor Roman, Gonchi Sifre, Román Vázquez, Hector Matos, Henry Cole, Ricky Rodriguez, among others.
