Dan Africano has spent the past several years playing electric bass with a number of different artists based out of NYC and other parts of the northeast US. His main project is his own band with Scott Flynn and Neal Evans, Elephant Wrecking Ball, which released their latest album July 1, 2014 on Ropeadope Records. He has also been the bassist for Nicky Egansince 2011, whos latest album released in April of 2014, also on Ropeadope Records. Dan has also worked recently with Zongo JunctionThe Bayside TigersVan Gordon Martin BandAkashic RecordThe Balkun Brothers,PalmslapSundub, and Tubby Love, among others.
Dan picked up the bass at age 11 and grew up playing energetic music – mostly funk and punk rock. His intrests shifted by his late teens and early 20s while he developed a love for reggae music, soul and jazz. An intimate familiararity with these styles combined with his intuitive musicianship provide Dan with a widely versatile playing style, all while exhibiting his own distictive approach. After over a decade of self-taught bass exploration, Dan enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2007. He graduated in 2009 with a degree in Professional Music and moved to NYC shortly thereafter to expand his musical career.
