Artist Bio
Dan Africano is a bassist, producer, songwriter, and longtime force in the American reggae, dub, and roots music scene. As a founding member and primary artist of Death By Dub, Africano has helped define the Denver-based instrumental dub project as its bassist, songwriter, and producer. He is also the bassist for Thievery Corporation and has toured the world extensively with the DC-based group. Other notable touring experience includes work with the trailblazing North American reggae band John Brown’s Body and the jam-rock supergroup Ghost Light.
Africano’s studio and writing credits include work with Ghost Light, John Brown’s Body, Radon, Photon, Omar Coleman, Eddie Roberts, and GARZA, while his role as a producer includes credits on recent releases from Colorado reggae bands Bonfire Dub, Policulture, and Green Buddha. Across his work as a performer, songwriter, and producer, Africano brings a deep understanding of rhythm, groove, and dub production to a broad range of musical projects.
