The Brussels Barrios Festival 2009, La Bella Strings official sponsor. This year, in November, it will be 75 years ago that Agustín Barrios performed a solo recital in the concert hall of the Brussels Conservatoire. The date was November November 7, 1934. It was to become the only public concert given by Barrios in Europe in his lifetime. Barrios appeared in the press as Nitsuga Mangoré and played a selection of his standard repertoire and own works, among them Diana Guaraní, Un Sueño en la Floresta and Fiesta de la Luna Nueva. To celebrate this there will be a Festival with recitals by players from all over the world. The venues of these recitals are the Royal Musical Instrument Museum and Flagey, former home of the Belgian National Radio Orchestra. The gala concert on Nov. 7th will feature Eliot Fisk and Jerome Mouffe on the exact 75th anniversary of the Barrios concert, and will closely follow the original program of the Barrios concert.
