ASCAP Jazz Wall of Fame!

On June 11th, ASCAP President and Chairman Marilyn Bergman announced that Ron Carter would be added to the ASCAP Jazz Wall of Fame. Established in 1914, ASCAP was the first and leading U.S. Performing Rights Organization (PRO) representing the worlds largest repertory totaling over 8.5 million copyrighted musical works of every style and genre from more than 320,00 songwriter, composer and music publisher members. Founded in 1975, the ASCAP foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting American music creators encouraging their development through music education and talent development programs.

Presented by the Texas Woman's University School of the arts


The Latino Dance and Music Festival is five days of classes, workshops, concerts, lectures and a Gran Competencia, all focusing on folkloric dance and classical guitar music representative of various Latin countries and composers. The festival culminates with a day of performances and exhibitions including the world premiere of a new work by composer Ernesto García de León, to be choreographed by guest artist Elisa de la Rosa. Many of the concerts and related activities will be open to the general public.

La Bella will have a display booth commanded by our very own Director of Sales Robert Archigian. He will be there answering various questions about strings and your instruments. Canada's own Alain Caron will be putting on a FREE Bass Guitar workshop from 3pm to 4pm in the Jeanne-Mance Room at the HYATT Regency Montreal, which is located on 1255 Jeanne-Mance Street in Montreal.

The gigantic summer music celebration features 11 days of non-stop entertainment, from noon to midnight, right in the heart of downtown Montreal. Several city blocs are closed to traffic, as right of way is given exclusively to pedestrians, creating a festive and secure spot with cafés and bistros, an art gallery, street performers and a musical park for children. It’s the summer celebration par excellence for people of all ages and origins, a cultural breath of fresh air, and a place for incredible musical discoveries with influence such as JAZZ, BLUES, LATIN-JAZZ, BRAZILIAN, CUBAN, AFRICAN, REGGAE, CONTEMPORARY, ELECTRONICA ...

Ukuleles for Peace
La Bella makes a donation  for a very worthy cause.

Director Paul Moore head of Ukuleles for Peace, teaches children both Arabic and Jewish how to play the Uke. Along the way the children learn concomitant skills and a practical application of everyday peaceful coexistance. All the children will be playing with the very finest La Bella Ukulele strings.

Guitars not Guns
La Bella provides guitars to the "Guitars not Guns" music program.

"Guitars not Guns" is a non-profit organization that provides guitars and lessons to foster kids, at risk youth and other deserving children in a classroom setting with qualified teachers. No child is turned away for lack of funds.  Their goal is to  Help stop violence in schools and on the streets by providing a music program for at risk teens and other deserving children. They beleive in diverting as many children as possible from the self-destructive behaviors of drugs, alcohol, crime connected to gang activity. By providing children and teens with guitars and lessons, the organization hopes to engage their creative potential.

William Patterson University
La Bella Sponsors William-Patterson Guitarfet

William Paterson University Guitarfest 2008 is set for Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 and will feature brilliant guitarist Jason Vieaux in concert and master class. Mr. Vieaux is a winner of a top prize in the prestigious Naumburg International Competition and has produced two recordings that have sold over 40,000 copies worldwide. He was awarded first prize at the Guitar Foundation of America International Competition and is the Department Chair of the guitar department at the Cleveland Institute of Music. The William Paterson University guitar department is understandably thrilled about Mr. Vieaux's appearance at the school.
